In my first pass at this branch of the family tree, I commented "Not certain that he, his wife and his son are my ancestors." This comment referred to John Anderson, wife Jean Nichol, and son John (1768-1858).

My second period of research was prompted by the finding of a census of Craig parish for 1788. This made it clear that there could be only one John Anderson who died at the age of 90 in 1858, and his parents were Alexander Anderson and Jean Nicol. So John Anderson born abt 1745 has been changed to Alexander Anderson.

Alexander married Jean Nicol on 16 Nov 1766 in Montrose, Angus. (Jean Nicol was born about 1745 in Montrose, Angus, probably.)
